Joan Aydelette - Director of Jamestown Presbyterian Preschool
Joan became Director of Jamestown Presbyterian Preschool in July of 2014. She has an impressive history in early childhood education. Joan was a 3 year old teacher for 14 years and served as director of a preschool in Oak Ridge, NC. She also taught kindergarten and first grade before finding her true calling at preschool.
Joan and her husband, Erick, have been married for 25 years and have two sons. Evan is 20 and Max is 16.
Joan loved children's books, baking and watching Max play football! Go Villains!
April Bolick ~ Lead Teacher, Pre-K
April joined the JPP family 5 years ago. She has taught the 2's, 3's and is currently enjoying every second with her Pre-K students! April's class is truly a preparation for kindergarten. She loves attending continuing education seminars and modern curriculum classes and loves to bring new ideas and approaches to learning to the Pre-K class.
April and her husband, David, have two daughters. Olivia is 12 and Maggie is 8.
Mrs. Bolick collects owls, loves reading and enjoys running with her daughter Olivia.
Mrs. Hamilton is the lead teacher for our amazing 4 day 4 year old class. As a certified elementary education teacher, Sue taught for several years in different grades in both Colorado and NC before joining the JPP staff in 2008.
Sue is full of energy and love for her students, co-workers and her family! She and her husband, Jim, have 3 children, Cameron (18), Cole (16) and Cooper (14). She loves to read, listen to music and cook! She is also a dog lover!
Mrs. Hamilton is so grateful that she gets to be surrounded by funny, sweet kids all day who are so eager to learn new things. "Everyday is like a party in my classroom!"
Heather Tipton joined the JPP teaching staff in 2016. She shares the 5 day 4 year old assistant position with Mrs. Thoma.
Heather has degrees from Wake Forest and ECU and taught undergraduates while working on her masters in Biological Anthropology. She spent 10 years training monkeys! Heather and her husband, John, have two sons, Jacob (8) and Nicholas (5).
After seeing the difference an amazing teacher can make in a child, Heather felt a desire to contribute in the classroom. Heather's favorite things about JPP? The creativity, the warmth, the support and the glitter!
Mrs. Thoma is enjoying her first year as an assistant teacher in the 5 day 4 year old class with Mrs. Tipton and Mrs. Hamilton.
Brittany has been a member of the JPP community for years as a parent, a substitute teacher and a music teacher. She also taught 1st grade at Florence Elementary. With a degree in Early Childhood Education, Brittany brings a great deal of knowledge, experience and love for little ones to our team.
Brittany and her husband, Brian, have 2 sons, Logan (10) and Landon (6). Her favorite thing to do is watch her boys play sports! Brittany loves that JPP is a school where "children are shown so much love while learning and playing."
Mrs. Smith, aka Mrs. Smiff/Mrs. Sniff, has been teaching at JPP for 4 years. She is the co-lead teacher in the Tuesday/Thursday 2 year old class and the Monday/Wednesday/Friday 3 year old class with Mrs. Gerold. Erin has degrees in both Child and Family Community Services and Elementary Education.
While an obviously qualified teacher, Erin's favorite thing is to play and be silly! She loves children and loves watching the learning process through their eyes!
Erin is married to JPC Pastor Jay and has 3 children, Joshua (13), Jordan (11) and Julia (8). Mrs. Smith thinks that great teachers, a christian atmosphere and such nice families are what make JPP special!
Stephanie Howard has always had a teacher's heart. She has been a substitute teacher, a kindergarten teacher and a teacher at JPP for 3 years. She is the lead in the 3 day 3 year old class with Mrs. Dunford.
Stephanie enjoys many things including reading, walking, Panther football and UNC basketball and anything her children do. She is also an advocate for recycling and repurposing. Mrs. Howard and her husband, Todd, have 3 sons, Ryan (19), Aaron (16) and Mason (12).
Mrs. Howard joined our teaching team because she loves children and "lightbulb moments" and the fact that "everything can be a teachable thing." She believes that JPP is like a family - "the staff, the kids, parents and grandparents are a true school family."
Mrs. Dunford is an absolutely fabulous recent addition to our JPP staff. She has been the assistant in the 3 day 3 year old class with Mrs. Howard for 2 years. She finds joy in knowing that she is making a positive, lifelong impact in the students lives.
Sara has a background in education that includes a degree in social work and teaching special education. She loves reading and watching her boys play sports. She and her husband, Jimmy, have 2 sons, James (8) and Jake (5).
Mrs. Dunford feels like JPP is the perfect fit for her. She loves our close school community. Her favorite part of teaching is having fun everyday with the kids as they learn without even knowing it!
Erin Lopp brings out lots of smiles through music and movement at our preschool! With more than 17 years of experience, a Kindermusik certification and a degree in Music Education, Mrs. Lopp is fostering a love of all things music in our students.
Mrs. Lopp and her husband, Mike, have one daughter, Timpani (20) that attends UNCG. While Erin enjoys "anything and everything," she believes that teaching music is her calling.
Erin's favorite quality of our school is the "love vibe" connection between the teachers and students. She loves watching them learn and have fun in an environment of unconditional love, respect and support.
